Free Meals for All Students
While the start of the school year looks a little different for everyone, I wanted to share with you some good news that schools nationwide received last week. The USDA extended a waiver that allows schools to serve free breakfast and lunch to ALL students, as late as December 31, 2020 or as long as funding is available. We are thrilled with this news as it means that we will be able to provide all UXBRIDGE PUBLIC SCHOOLS students with nutritious and nourishing food for free that will support them, both in school and at home.

Baker-Polito Administration Awards $13 Million in Green Communities Grants
The Baker-Polito Administration today awarded $13,000,558 in Green Communities competitive grants to 103 municipalities across Massachusetts to fund clean energy projects.

Whitin Intermediate School Receives ASA Grant Award
American Student Assistance (ASA), the national non-profit dedicated to helping students make informed choices about their education and career goals, has awarded grants totaling $598,639 to six Massachusetts school districts to fund career exploration programs for middle school students.

UHS Principal Michael Rubin is Massachusetts 2020 Principal of the Year
What has been known in town for some time has now been made official; the top high school principal in Massachusetts works at Uxbridge High School. Earlier this week a representative from the Massachusetts School Administrators Association (MSAA) notified Uxbridge High Principal Michael Rubin that he had been named High School Principal of the Year.

Uxbridge Public Schools Welcomes New Director of Pupil Services
Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Frank Tiano, is pleased to announce that Ms. Jennifer Ramsdell will serve as the next Director of Pupil Services for the Uxbridge Public School District. She will begin her tenure on July 1, 2020.

UPS Engineering Program Supporting Medical Community
In a collaborative effort between the Uxbridge Public Schools, the Uxbridge Board of Health, and state emergency management, Uxbridge has deployed its school technology as part of its engineering program to manufacture personal protection equipment, which will be used by health professionals and public safety employees in the ongoing battle against COVID-19.

UHS Earns $200,000 Skills Capital Grant
Governor Charlie Baker and Lt. Governor Karyn Polito visited the Gloucester Marine Genomics Institute (GMGI) on Tuesday, February 25 to announce $14.6 million in Skills Capital Grant awards to 54 educational institutions to update equipment and expand student enrollment in programs that provide career education, including a $200,000 grant to Uxbridge High School.
